shifting problem?

I have a 1987 24' Baja Sport with a 460 OMC King Cobra engine rebuilt with about 140 hours. I am having some problems shifting into forward and reverse gear. Sometimes it will go, sometimes it won't. It seems to be better when i mess with this one gear which is attached to the engine where the shifting cable enters. This seems to make it tighter... Any suggestions?

Re: shifting problem?

Sounds like you need the shift cable upgrade.
Do a search, there's a thread on this.
