Default New Supercharger System introduced in Key West

What better place to announce something like this, than Key West during the world finals?

We are getting very positive reactions from the enthusiasts down here. So it's time to share the news with the OSO gang. Here is the new supersystem from Rtech Performance, designed for the Mercury HP500EFI and 525 EFI.

The idea is...

1) For improvements in air flow and cooling capacity, supercharging systems should have big intercoolers on top of the intake manifold, not big blowers.

2) Centrifugal blowers allow you to do this by virtue of their relatively smaller size and front mounting position, with the added bonus of higher efficiency, especially at high RPM.

3) The advantages of direct port injection on these engines should be maintained for uniform fuel distribution.

4) The true limit to power is detonation. The least restrictive system with the largest intercooler and best fuel distribution will have the biggest margin for safety and/or power.

Sorry, it won't fit under many hatches, but I just can't bring myself to sacrifice the air flow by mounting the intercooler remotely. And yes, we are relocating the closed cooling tank on the 525 EFI.

Looking forward to your comments as always,

Tom Robinson

That looks great what kind of power are you seeing out of the 525 setup?

The blower can deliver anywhere from 600 - 1000 HP, depending on pulley ratio and the specs of the base engine. Typically we are seeing a density ratio of 1.6 with our supercooler setups, which translates into 800 HP on the HP500EFI and about 850 on the 525 EFI.

Good work, that looks great!

And it would fit under the hatch on my new 38 Lightning.

Now could you just call my wife and tell her that I just gotta have two for Christmas?

waaay cool.

Combine it with some weissmann offset output boxes and a drysump oil system and you could drop the motor height about 5 inches. Might fit under a lot more hatches that way.
