Re: any info on ssm speed master 3
I own an older raceboat with a single SSM III. In it's heyday, they ran an 850 hp blower motor in front of it, with 1.68 gears and a really high pitch prop. For short course racing. On my budget, a normally aspirated 540 at 615 hp is about all I can afford the gas for, and I expect that it will corrode away first at 590 lb-ft of torque. When I bought it, I had MRD regear it for my application, and the drive iternals were just fine. Unless you are running the drive on a lightweight cat, I would keep it below the 700 hp mark, but that's just my opinion based on conversations I've had with a couple folks that have worked extensively with them.
