Question How Much $ For A 2" Shortie

Just lookin around but how much should you expect to pay for a 2" shortie complete gear case? Either an Imco or a Merc Sportmaster. And which one would you prefer?

Mark,

I know some people who have tried them on a Velocity and they did not work. Just some input.

I also know some who have used the 2" shorty and picked up considereable speed. You need to know what x-demension you currently have and what is best to make this work for you. Easy way is to call the factory and talk to Steve.

I'm don't know the cost of the shorty lower unit but you MAY also need to figure in the cost of a 5-blade prop to make it useable according to Steve.

I think you can probably get the case and shaft for around $2000. Then you will have to use some of the parts out of your standard lower and get it assembled.

I bought a complete XR upper with an IMCO 2" Shortie for $7500 from Sterndrive Specialist in Constantia, NY.
Plus they took my 1989 Bravo on trade for $1500. $6000 total cost.
Of course, they had just rebuilt it the year before so they weren't going in blind.
Call Chris Martin at 315-623-7642.

I also had a drive built by the sterndrive specialists. I had a XZ upper with a sportmaster lower. Picked up speed from the stock bravo. I am running a merc HP500 Carb. I have had no problems, knock, knock 50 hrs on drive. Cost was about 7000 that was 2 years ago. I had a shower put on and they dialed it in. They put a small spacerin also
