Re: 2.5 HP per cubic inch, How hard is it?
We make over 2000hp in our blown injected 500ci+ Pro mod race car engines that I shift at 8000rpms , its not a matter of being hard to make 2.5hp per ci.
It all depends on what the application will be, for the reliability of a marine application to make 1250hp with 500ci or 2.5hp per ci she is on tilt with a ton of boost , and with the cam needed for that hp to ci probably not to user friendly at idol when docking!
I may be wrong as this is my first boat!
In ourTop Gun with 502s we just added AFR 335 cnc ported heads bored her to 509ci, JE pistons a small comp cams roller, etc with 7lbs or so of boost we now have 775 to 825 hp with a rev limit of 5800 rpms. We could turn up the wick a bit but I don't believe we would be on the bay to much!

The water ski racers have it pretty well figured out! I don't know much about their combos but typically they run 509 - 540 CI and injected turbo motors. Oh ya and they race for some pretty decent durations!! I believe these motors are putting out 1300 or so HP!! Not bad for an endurance motor!

You built your motor didn't you!!! Please tell us more about that combo. I want to know more about the M2RACE heads as well. May be a good upgrade to the CNC ported Darts I am running.
