it's pressed in. Get some pliers and twist and pull.

Use a small slide hammer (dent puller) with vice grips attached to the end. They will pull out nicely.

Wouldn't putting in the freezer make the metal EXPAND and make it harder to take out?

i had to do the same to remove the choke plate. i had used a heat gun (at the j tube base) then used a small pair of vice grips w/a small piece of leather to protect j tube from getting gouged and they came out very nice.did the same thing to put them back on. good luck

I have never removed any...but the heat idea sounds good to me...heat the carb base with heat gu and put an ice cube on the J tube. The J tube will conduct heat very well down itself as it is a hollow fin and that will cause an temp difference of the two parts. Other option, I think ther tubes are steel and the carb base is aluminum so even if you just heat them both there will be benfit due to the different coefficents of thermal expansions of the two materials. I would try the heat gun and ice cube and I bet they come right out.

Radio Shack or some electronics supply store will have a spray can of freon or something used for cooling. I suspect the spray would work better than an ice cube, faster and able to localize better.

I doubt the freezer trick will work.
The air horn is aluminum, the tubes are steel. Aluminum has a higher coefficient of expansion/contraction than steel.
What the means is the aluminum will contract more when cold than the steel parts. Freezing will probably increase the difficulty of removal.
Try using a small torch to heat the aluminum but not the steel.

will get chance to try all of those if needed!
its been in the freezer all night so i guess ill try that first, then while cold ill try to heat the base and see if it pops.

ill let you know what works best!!

thanks everyone
