Dyno results for Rtech supercharged 500EFI - 830 HP
We were on the dyno at Precision Marine yesterday testing different ECUs. Although Mark is still working on the program, the best pull was 833 HP @ 5500 RPM, using wet exhaust. Manifold air temp was very low and the knock sensor was not pulling timing out.
The dealer involved is Victory Marine in Texas. The engine is fresh, but nothing has been done to the heads, cam or compression. Cometic head gaskets were used, and Victory chose to use ARP rod bolts and better bearings.
We had a smaller pulley on hand but didn't need it to hit our target of 800+. Blower speed at WOT was only 37,000 RPM against a rated max of 58,000. The blower itself is capable of 1000 HP but the engine would need better parts and bigger fuel injectors etc.
The low restriction air pathway and very high cooling effectiveness are the reason why this much HP can be made at low blower speeds.
A pair of these engines is going into a late model catamaran. The photos are from our display at the Poker Runs America party in Miami.

Boost was in the 7 psi range. I don't have the complete data logs yet. The 500EFI system has been public for a while but big brother on the left was shown in Miami for the first time.

Tom,
Nice to meet you and see the product first hand in Miami. Talked to you at the OSO party at the Clevelander, and the Poker Runs American Party.
I mentioned to you that we upped the compression on my 500efi's to 9.1:1.
Again, what did you say that I could run as for boost and be safe?
Very impressive setup!

Dock: You're asking me to remember what I said at the OSO party? I don't remember how we got back to the hotel! Seriously though, we have run 6 psi on 502 Mag MPI engines with 9:1 and not tickled the knock sensor. This was good for about 725 HP. The same pulley makes more boost on the 500EFI since there is less resistance to air flow in that system, but that was with the stock compression ratio. I think you could get away with it but not without confirmation on the dyno and in the water with the scan tool hooked up.
articfriends: You have already seen the system for the 502 Mag MPI so I assume you mean modifying the upper plenum the same way as the 500EFI. It can be done, but is a little more involved due to the position of the bolts that hold the upper to the lower intake. Since this approach increases the height even more I wondered if there would be any demand since the 502 Mag MPI is often found under very low sunpads. Do you want a hood scoop?

Tom:
Those are awesome numbers on a 500efi with your package. Sounds like you have really got that big intercooler working great, keep up the great developments. Say Hi to Lane and Bill at Victory for me.

Ray: I will say Hi for you. I want to talk to you about the 496 sometime. Did I hear that you have a relocation kit/bigger heat exchanger for the closed cooling?
Airpacker: Quite whining about your wimpy drive! We need to get together at Speedmaster some time on your way home. Lots to talk about.
