Looking for a race boat

Just considering entering a race series in Europe - it's just an idea at the moment, but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to what boat might be good for this series? I am considering the Supersport class, Rules as follows .............

(a) be Group A boats with minimum length of 33 ft and a maximum length of 42 ft., having standard production model hulls and standard production model engines that would otherwise qualify as Sport category but fall outside because they do not comply with one or more category Sport
requirements;
(b) have a maximum power to weight ratio of 1hp per 4.5kg (9.92lbs) (no tolerance). There shall be no reference to maximum capacity of engine;
(c) have all other matters consistent with existing Group A rules (502.02).
d) After market spare parts or special accessories available in the market, shall be permitted for the drive system only, including water pick up, extension boxes, nozzle, props, steering system, special flaps, and power lift.
(e) The Maximum speed shall be 80 mph. If exceeded the team may be disqualified from the race.
(f) Gear boxes are permitted only if they are standard and included in the manufacturer production package for the hull and engine.
(g) Supercharging and/or turbocharging for petrol inboard engines shall be prohibited.

The boats have to be open (not canopy) hulls, but it seems if the canopy has no back to it they are allowed!

website for more information is http://www.powerboatp1.com which has the existing boats and more regulations.

Any comments are welcome, the series is recieving quite a lot of publicity and TV coverage which is what is needed to attract sponsors!

Re: Looking for a race boat

I have been reading alot about P1 because we were tossing the idea of doing it as well. It looks like the 36 Pantera, Donzi, and Formula are doing well. any of them with hp 500's should do well. I would look for an old APBA or SBI Factory 2 Class boat

Here is a link to a boat that would be good for the Evolution class
