They can handle a lot of hp and tq, and when used within their ratings they are practically unbreakable. They use the least horsepower to turn the prop of any drive. Builders of Express Cruisers and yachts use Arnesons with their big diesel packages.

2009 Force 29 Canopy w/Arneson
what are you putting it on? I'm currently in the process of having one put on my new 29 Force Cat (single big hp engine).

Racing
We ran ASD 8 with 1200 Hp no problems, std boxes will require a counter rotating engine. Either get a "Bonner" drive or speak with "rik" to get you going in the correct direction

Possible issues depending on the set up - splines that will accept std # 6 props, often the surface drive do better with a different rake, availibilty of props if you do not have #6 spline

Slippery when wet!
The 12-meter Vee Patrol boats all had ASD 8’s on them and Diesel power they worked flawless even with the horrific abuse like 6 blade props wrung off too the hub on the hard rock bottom. no problem with the drives.
