I know the restrict the size of the air intake........I don't know much other than that though......most of the racing is very close though. Here they just want to allow to basic types of motors and people are fighting it.....

engine size, rpm and air intake are limited based off of what type of engine setup you are running (ie, supercharged v8, N/A v8 or v12), and from that, you get a HP rating and your weight is based off that.

Basically everybody currently is running a 930 HP setup, just getting there a variety of ways.

example, the supercharged Merc setup over there is a 6500 rpm, 557 cid, 63 mm restrictor. Basically an 850 merc with a raised limiter and air restrictor.

Why not just let Guy be the research project?
sean i would disagree with that statement. 90% of all car/ v-8 engine based motorsports i know of don't allow EFI, mechanical fuel or electronic controlled ignition (computer based variable timing) for the plain fact that an engine builder is able to tweak dyno numbers so much with the unlimited adjustments of those systems.

where as a carburator can be easily checked and a regular distributor and ign. box where the timing in locked out will always make the same hp and not correct itself like a computer based system.

f1, gp2, wrc, motogp, wsb, irl, supercross, motorcross, ama, C1, P1, Xcat... the list goes on and on, not to mention SCL, SVL and SS here in the states... even nascar, the staple of the carb racing idea, is looking at efi currently.

Unless you are watching a nascar race or drag racing on tv, it has efi.

i see your point sean, i was referring to almost all motorsports that uses v-8 based engines and more "recreactional" or hobby based. indy car and motorcycles aren't really comparing the same type of engine. i was looking nascar type circle track racing - all dirt track cars except sprints. almost all roadrace cars, scca, ect. those types of engine programs are alot more comparable to supercat 750 - single carb that is easily checked. and the efi thing is exactly why nascar hasn't moved from carb.

and i see tony's point of being able to do a legit tech inspection. the merc 850 motor is the same as the 1075 and the same as the merc 930 C1 motor. these motors have computer controlled timing, EFI and blower pop-off settings that can be easily adjusted to create alot more hp of make themselves look like they make alot less hp. i think this is what the 750 guys are talking about.

the 750 (510 na motor) is only going to make so much HP and yea the sterlings maybe make a few more that the old mercs, but its not like you could cheat and make an extra 100 HP. but with the 850 mercs thats probably not that hard to do and extremely hard to check, currently.

Hey Guy, I don't want to mislead you into thinking I don't believe in tech to weed out cheeters cuz I do. Nothing is worse then working your azz off knowing your chit is right and another in your class driving away from you ! I don't get into these RULES threads cuz if I did my stomach would bleed from frustration so I don't mind Dumbfox representing on some level. If he gets outta hand I'll bust him up. As far as racing goes Vinny & I have a great time and tons of fun running with you & Ray and all the 850's.
So lets all line up and tear it up.
Has anybody asked JC how he plans to handle this. Sure Hope he dosen't start us seperate

SUPERCAT 388 Skater HULL No 1.
Hey Guy, I invited you to bring it to the table..I started my dance in 2003. Your 850 deal wrecked a class and a org. The only place u race is OSS. THat 2 to 1 s%$# is for the birds. So since u satrted that crap. Its quite simple. Im done. I 'm running the 750 SUPERBOAT in KEY WEST. YOUR 850 isnt in my class. Have fun running CRC. I'm working with Curtis to help the SUPERCAT class. I talked to efuison, Reliable and thought Vinny and BigBoy were on the same page.I have not talked to warpaint. If you want ask them to join your 850 class with the 750 motors i dont care. I tried to be nice and accomodating. Everytime i went to Key west i had a great time( even on my lid in 04). Im done. Join a class and race . Oh yea yours is gone sorry about your luck.

This thread is going nowhere like your 850 class.

Skaterdave..your 100 percent correct. I dont know how many times you have to say it, to get it through that thick DW hull.

Bigboy JC will start us together, thats fine..Just want Qatar to agree too.

LOSTINBOSTN your on track thats probably how it will work. Make the hulls the same. and work with engines..It may work it may not. Its a first time run. The more the same we have the better....We still want to work on the SUPERCAT class for the states no mater what...

Ryan bring your tech stuff for the 850s okay???? I'm sure Mercury will help you ..

Boat Btch
Well there you go. Tony Im klinda shocked... and disappointed. I had the impression that everybody in this thread was trying to figure out a way that the 750's and 850's can run together and create more competition with more boats in a start..... Well .... guess not everybody huh.
