40th Anniversary N J Offshore Grand Prix

This exciting ocean race is building up every day. We expect both the OPA and the OSS boats to come out to race on this 40th Anniversary of powerboat racing in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. The hotels are filling up so please go to http://www.oparacing.org/ for all hotels sponsoring the race. Please also visit http://www.njoffshore.org/ for all of the volunteer information and other information on the Point Pleasant Beach race. NJ Offshore is the group that is running the Point Pleasant Beach race site. Race control is also being handled by Dave Patnuade "President" of the New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club. Is there a parade or not.This is one of the highlights of the weekend.Without the parade I'm staying home

Sorry to say but no.
The parking lot in the town of PPB couldn't be secured without paying for it so all boats will be pitted at the Manasquan River Club. To pull off a parade means to also pay for additional Police not just for PPB but Brick now as well to get the boats out of the Marina on Friday night.
It all came down to funds.
PPB loves the parade, as long as someone else is paying for it.
No budget for it, therefore it had to be cut.
I don't think people are realizing the importance of a good turnout this year for this race. We had a great show last year, but if it can't be backed up with a good showing this year, then all efforts will be lost.
Keep in mind, prior to Smitty taking over, this event was down to 12 boats. So it has been an uphill battle with the town to prove a better track record for years to come.

We need as many boats here as possible or this could be the 40th & last event in PPB.

Actually sharkey this one of my favorite races and wouldnt miss it for the world.Allways alot of excitement and big air.A shame about the parade though.
