No, Class 5 is open to other power options. HP in the class ranges from 525 to 700. Older style hulls need more power to be competitive

Respectively disagree.

How so? Our 27 Avanti would barely go 75 with 700hp. Randy does well with 525hp in his light step-bottom Kryptonite
Point being, with the 525 we have in it now it wont even break 70. We NEEDED more power to be competitive..especially in an older style hull. This is the best part about OPA..."Obsolete" hulls can still be raced!

Yes. The Avanti was a tank, a slow tank at that. Your Superboat would also NOT go 75 in race conditions/race trim.
Im talking race trim with these speeds....not running on fumes trimmed to the moon with no safety equipment etc speeds.

1)Eggbeaters vs I/O= apples to oranges
2) just as the P1 Europe based their formulas on pwr to weight, this is essentially what OPA has very very loosely created, yes if you want to be competitive you must go a little overboard pwr wise to keep up on the acceleration
3)An old rule of thumb(not an exact science) is for every 100 lbs you lose 1 mph

The Saris Avanti is more than likely 5500 to 6000 lbs in weight, the Kyrptonites of both Saris and Typhoon are in the 4500 to 4600 lb range, added to the fact that the Avanti is a traditional straight bottom vs the notches/steps(less drag) available to the Kyptonite you add in another factor for the need of more power to attain a certain speed

Somebody needs to jump on the opportunity to run with Randy, somehow someway, he is always a threat to win. Also if you bring a gas cap to the table I am sure he will negotiate the price in your favor some
