There was never a 30 Cobra Black Duck. There were 2 Shadow cat Black Ducks. Neither one ran as Beep Beep too.

The rescue boat you speak of was the Can Do. I remember that night well. Very tough guys who gave their lives trying to help during that incredible storm.

Here's some interesting reading about the fate of the Can Do.

Thanks Kurt.....I'm trying to remember names here now so many years later....I think it was Dave Warner, he was the owner driver of Black Duck...both I don't remeber the other guy's names.

My Dad(Pete Aitkin) is the owner/driver of Black Duck which was a 30 ft Shadow Cat(there were 2 of them actually). It was sold to Nicky Cutro in Lake George who ran it as Boardwalk, E&B Marine and Pennzoil. I found the boat a few years ago in Canada(still painted like Pennzoil). So unless there was another "Black Duck" which I don't think there was, there must be some mistake.

Im fortunate enough to own both a SVL and a class 5 boat. Why would I do most of my racing in SVL if there was all this drama some speak of. Its a bad as$ class full of great guy's that share, help and enjoy racing at wide open throttle. After the initial cost of buying a SVL its probualy one of the most cost effective classes to race in. Low HP,Bravo drive, single power, easy to haul, safe and a blast to race. Im confused on how anyone that races boats wouldnt see the vaue in all that. The only down side would be is if you use your boat as a pleasure boat on weekends then a SVL would not work well LOL.
