Sngle, I know its a lot of alphabet soup but let me splain'.
OPA, Offshore Perforamce Association has been around for 20 years, running races mostly in Barnegate bay from time to time. When US Offshore went belly up, Kurt Burger brought OPA back to life and started running divisional races in Point Pleasant as the NE division of SBI. Once again, OPA will be using SBI's insurance but not much more. Also, any boat that paid for SBI equipment registration in New Orleans is paid for the season.
If OPA wanted to pay a higher insurance premium, it could be it's own santioning body, however that is not the goal. The goal is to race for the fun of racing and leave the BS on shore.
NJ Offshore.
www.njoffshore.com Is the local volunteer club that supports the races in the Point Pleasant area, we will also help with A/C but not NY or the TBA location.
