Back on the dock!!!!!!!
$1,000,000.00 Winner Take All....Thats right one million dollars

Now that I have everyone's attention I know there has been alot of talk over the last couple of years to bring back long distance endurance racing.

How does everyone feel about getting with the APBA and sanctioning a Miami-New York Cannonball run. Everyone pay an agreed upon entry fee, run what ya brung, and major exposure in all medias. With the right marketing and using $1,000,000.00 being the target for th ultimate prize, maybe, just maybe it could be pulled off.

So please vote yes or no to get a feel.

Are you sure $1million dollars will be enough? Ofcoarse alot of racers are still racing for beer money and bowling trophies.

It worked about 15 years ago with a $500,000 winner take all purse. Adjusted for inflation and egos, it might work again.20 entries at $50,000 or 10 entries at $100,000. Maybe let John Crouse put the details together. I think there are at least 10 players out there that can afford it. What do they spend on a Supercat season? I think it's a great idea.

Thumbs up

Randy,
On July 30, 1985 George Morales driving a 46' aluminum Cougar Cat, "Maggies MerCruiser Special" set the record run from Miami to NY (1,257 miles) with a time of 19 hours 31 minutes. Al Copeland came in second 58 minutes later. The average speed was slightly less than 65 mph. Bob Magoon held the prior record in a 40' Cigarette at 55 MPH.
A 24 Pantera with twin outboards set the OB record-in the 1970's I think 40 mph-I loaned out my "Searace" book so I cant look that up.
Wouldn't it be great if they ran the race with an under 30' class!! I hope this endurance race is resurected!
Hope this info helps.
Bob G.

RACE BOATS
I would like to give it a shot but dont have a entry fee like that to even think of doing it.I would be intrested in what the 30 foot and under time was.Thats a hall in a small boat , you would be soar for a week! How do you refuel?
