I don't think It would be the 496, As I understand it the 496 is not part of Mercury Racing nor part on Innovation, It would have to be a new creation, and as history dictates, it would have to benefit APBA, Innovation or Mercury Racing in some sort of way, no one is going to do all this for free. I do thank if its affordable like the 496 it would bring back a lot of Racers, & promote new racers. A new racer could be in a boat for 65 Grand if the manufacture is willing to work with them, the best price for a 525 is around 32k the 496 is just over half that, around 18K, a 14,000 savings, 28 for F2 guys. Less Money=More Racers

You are mistaken if you think Activators & Kryptonites are the only boats that can run in the rough. Warlocks - Phantoms - Corsa's- Pantera's and my 28 Joker can all run upfront in the rough. What's putting the Activators & Kryptonites up front is the talent and COMMITTMENT from the guy's racing the boats. You put Glenn / Randy and 100% COMMITTMENT in a 30 ft Phantom with a 525 Merc and their 3 minute lead will be a 6 minute lead. My hat's off to them. I committed myself back in 1999 in a 27 Warlock in F1 and we didn't do to bad , did we Mad Dog? BH

Ok gotcha on that - I read Gino's post. There was also a 29 Fountain that used to run pretty well in the rough - Sarasota 1999 " Stressed Out" with Tom Etheridge throttling and driving ran away from the pack , that was until the end of the race when he broke - Brian Hollis - not Steve.....

Shane: I had a lowly Stingray once, and with a measly 425HP engine, that thing is rated at 72 mph (forget about chop, though.) Boats in general have picked up a lot of speed since F1 has started. Wouldn't it be embarrasing if the race model is slower than what the factory usually sells?

Eddie where does that put your 30' Superboat with a vortec against BRE and there 24' worlock carb motor? I would say around 1000lbs.
