Default A few days to St Pete: Never a dull moment in Factory 1 class.

Randy & Glenn of Team Typhoon will switch White for Black: Typhhon's black Kryptonite developed an ugly gash in the side in Ft. Lauderdale. Black Beauty is on its way to Kryptonite Naval Works in Eastport, Long Island, for needed repairs. Randy & Glenn will race their white Kryptonite. It has a HP500 EFI, and it can be substantially lighter than their black one with the HP525.

The waters must have been corrosive: Fastedy Simmons emulated Team Typhoon and returned from Fort Lauderdale with a 3ft gash in his boat. F1-68 will be towed to the Superboat Naval Yard in Lindenhurst, Long Island, for re-fitting. Eddie will run OUI's 26 Progression (non-stepped, ex-Mountain Dew) at The Real Worlds, and in St Petersburg. Fastedy is in the process of transplanting his HP3. Because urgent business engagements prevent OUI from attending Petersburg, Eddie will also have to transplant a new throttleman for this race.

Yet a new driver for the Screamin' Eagles: The Eagles will continue their a-new-race-a-new-driver tradition. After Gordo had piloted F1-83 in Fort Lauderdale, the Eagles will again be switching pilots in St. Pete. This time, the chosen Eagle driver will be "Sticker Boy" Ryan Beckley. According to informed sources, the Eagles have been frequenting match.com in search of a lasting relationship for the 2004 season.

Add to that , the Lavey is almost ready for another "spin" around the track. Expect to see that flaming orange thing when the green flag goes up.

Of course Flashwave will be back ...able to turn a prop again after minor repairs and a turbocharger from Innovation Marine.

The Laveycraft might materialize in St. Pete? Who will be driving?

Could be the #1 kick butt F1 driver from the West Coast. Nah. How about Mark Hanna? Hanna vs Beckley. How cool would that be.

More last minute Petersburg dirt from your head gossipist Cmdr Solo.

Even more Velocity? According to well informed sources, Steve Kildahl may intruduce a Velocity on steroids in St. Pete. He was seen testing a HP500 upgrade kit (which would have to be approved at the last minute) that elevates the 500 to HP525 levels. Others have seen Steve waiting for a HP3.

The return of LaVey. Undeterred by recent mishaps, Laveycraft will be in the house in St. Pete. Because David Rehm had been busted up a bit in Lauderdale, stickman Kevin Cooper will rely on other talent drawn from the Laveycraft factory pool. David hopes to be back in the boat for Orange Beach.

Fastedy ISO better half. At the time of this gossiping, Fastedy Simmons still was in search of a partner to race the 26 foot Progression which will replace his usual Superboat in Pete. Fastedy's driver Brian "Oui" Whippersnapper will not make an appearance in Pete. Oui remarked from an undisclosed location: "We have a few surprises as to who'll be driving etc. might even be a former driver of the year....or a supercat guy." Sources close to the matter are placing their bets on Supercat master throttler Jay Muller as the stickler in St. Pete.

While hubby cleaned the boat: Lou-Anne Cambell was seen emerging from the house of racing legend Jim Arvis with a smile on her face. Husband Allen, Co-Owner of the Eagles boat, was not available for comment, because he performed cleaning duties on the boat.

Put Randy in cuffs. At his home in Quogue, NY, Master gossipist Bertel "Cmd. Solo" Schmitt was seen unwrapping a Fedex package from law enforcement supplier Copquest ( http://www.copquest.com ) Contents: A pair of black handcuffs by Smith & Wesson, Houlton, ME. "I'll put 'em on Randy the minute I arrive in St. Pete," said the Lone Racer. The demented duo will race Purple Shmurple, a.k.a One Design #2, against West Coast bat boat titans Rick "Sexy" Young and Tim "Hi-Test" Haines. It will be a warm-up for the second race, where Randy will throttle white Typhoon. Just to confuse the public completely, Purple Shmurple has been entered on the APBA books as "White Typhoon." According to Schmitt, this is part of their new "bamboozle and awe" strategy.

Schmitt said he would present the cuffs to Randy's wife Chris as a gift after the races.

Commander Solo, do you have your own spy satellite to? Any report on the water conditions on Sat.? Did they fix the hatch strap and side view mirror on the boat? Also did they drain all the water out from the last race?

Oh my! Forgot to ask, MD!

I shall immediately reposition the sat over Cincinnati!

That concludes the gossip portion for the St. Pete race, back to The Weather Channel.

For-what-its-worth-3-days-before, NOAA calls for "Saturday: Northeast winds around 10 knots. Bay waters a light chop."

Let's pray for more.

For always updated St. Pete weather conditions:

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/forecas...057&city=Tampa

Sounds quite tame and glorious: "CURRENTLY...A FANTASTIC EVENING UNDERWAY WITH CLEAR SKIES AND
TUMBLING TEMPS (AWAY FROM URBAN AREAS)."

I should look at property while in the area.
