Thumbs up Welcome to

Rossville, GA - - The APBA Offshore Racing Association, in promotion of their "Come Race In Our Water" campaign, has introduced a "Welcome Offer" to all racing competitors, no matter what club affiliation.

"Basically, there are a lot of racing clubs out there this year. That, in itself has somewhat depleted the "large group" participation that many community events count on, especially in the case where the event has been there a number of years and is for charity. Now, there seems to be some loyalty issues as to which club a racer can or cannot race in. We are here to say that we don't care what club you race in. The way we look at it, it's your equipment and you should be able to do what you want with it, when you want and where you want. We are letting all racers know that they are always welcome to come race in our water," said Bob Bull, C.E.O. of APBA Offshore.

Bull's aggressive "Welcome Offer", provided for any race competitor in St. Cloud, allows the team a waiver of the normal "Annual Equipment Registration Fee", in lieu of a single event membership of $100 per riding crew member, i.e. Driver, Throttleman and/or Navigator.

In addition, race competitors must be a member of a "local" APBA Offshore Club, or may join the St. Cloud Rotary Club for a fee of $25 per riding crew member, the proceeds of which go to help fund the event itself. All teams must pay the applicable entry fee as listed in the Racers Entry Packet, available online.

The St. Cloud Spring Fling and Florida State Boat Championships is celebrating it's 16th Anniversary this year, and continues to be a non profit event, with proceeds to the long time operation of the St. Cloud Rotary Club. Funds are used for scholarships and other community related programs.

The St. Cloud Spring Fling and Florida State Boat Championships will be held April 3rd & 4th, 2004. Events include a Saturday morning Boat Parade at 10:00am, followed by an APBA Offshore General Membership Meeting and luncheon in the Dry Pits at 1:00pm, where all that are interested may attend, hear the latest news, and ask questions about the 2004 programs.

Boat testing will begin at 3:30pm followed by the 6:30pm Drivers Meeting, and a Racer Party and Reception at 7:30pm hosted by the Remington Golf Club and sponsored by the Market Street Mortgage Company. Competition on the water begins on Sunday at 1:00pm and viewing is free to the public. The weekend event will also feature an antique and muscle car show, bass fishing tournament, midway rides, free stage entertainment, arts and crafts, and food concessions.

"We wish all the racers the best of luck in their own series, and urge them to "Come Race In Our Water" in St. Cloud, in preparation for their own racing series," added Jim Poplin, President of the APBA Offshore Racing Association. "For 16 years, this event has always been about racing, not about politics and we urge all the competitors to attend."

The Florida State Offshore Powerboat Race is sponsored by the City of St. Cloud, the Kissimmee - St. Cloud Convention Bureau, and the St. Cloud Rotary Club, and is part of the APBA Offshore Southeast Divisional Points Series.
