LS, from what I understand SBI is running P classes under a ruling of average lap speed.
P5 - 59
P4 - 69
P3 - 79
P2 - 89
P1 - 99
These are not top speeds, they are average lap speeds. If you break out, you get DQed because you should have been running in a faster class. Basically this says that a P4 boat should have a maximum top speed of 79 in order to average no better than 69 during the entire race.
P classes have no restrictions of any kind. Cats vs Vee, single I/O vs twin O/Bs it doesn't matter. It's all about the speed the boat can make.
You could run your boat in P class if you wanted to.
Hope that made some sense.

From my understanding, SBI uses GPS units in the Average Speed mode. Racers need to push a button at the begining and end of the race. The GPS records the distance too so you can't press it after the race is over.
More from the guys that raced. I'm getting this over cell phones.

It goes to show there are alot of boats in the wrong class. Glad to see they stood by the rules and congrats to those of you who moved up in class or were already in the right class.
