Orange Beach: One Of The Best

I just can't say enough about that place. This town of 3000 boat racing fans has put on three major races in less than a year (change that to four in August). I believe that is a record, and it also shows how dedicated they are to our sport. I swear I'm not working for the Chamber Of Commerce. I could easily write a thousand word "Thank You" to them. I read about a great site here or there but when we get there the treatment we receive leaves a lot to be desired. Not OB and they have every right to be a bit burned out considering the frequency of their events.

The site is a kind of amphitheater formed by the condos and hotels on the beach, which all face the ocean. Everyone I spoke to had a view of the entire course from their balcony.

The people are the friendliest I have ever had the honor to race in front of. They treat us all like Rock stars. And don't mind sending the prettiest of their women to our Racer parties. Their parties are the real thing, if you can't find what you want in OB you probably don't really need it.

The police are friendly and helpful like nothing I have ever seen. They would stop all four lanes of traffic BEFORE we even got to them with the boat, so we would not even have to brake.

I KNOW all of us who attended want to thank The City, The People, Gary Nichols and His Staff, Robin The Powerboat Princess, JC and the SBI crew, Mr. Fountain and everyone else my fading memory has forgotten for all their efforts. WE APPRECIATE YOU. And can't wait till August when we return. SQ

Steve,
We went to the APBA Worlds last year in OB and had a blast. It's a great venue for an Offshore Race and not to hard on the wallet either. I share your enthusiasm.

Ditto, we even had 5-6 people come up to us at a gas station asking questions about the races. Great venue as is all of the SBI sites.

Steve--Thankyou for your kind words about our community .Its hard for us to believe that on August 22 we will have had four major offshore races in less then one year and raised over $600,000 to make it happen. All for a non profit great cause. Thanks to the racers from S.B.I. and also the A.P.B.A and in August we will hope to have O.S.S. as well.I wish the weather would of been as nice as it is today and our starboard engine would have lasted two more laps but am thankful we will all be able to race another day. Thanks to all. Gary It's You Who Deserves The Thanks

Many people did much work to make the event. But without you, none of it would be happening. I know you are not looking for credit. But you deserve it.

Sorry about the starboard motor. As nicely as we treat the damn things you would think they would last longer. You and David made the fans very happy with your battle. Now can we talk about lap seven, when you two split on either side of us? Just kidding, it actually woke Lee up a little.

I had herd about an OSS, SBI, event being possible for August. Did not want to add any stress to the negotiations by speculating here.

That would be GREAT.

Throttle Up Propellers Manufacturer
This is a community that really gets excited about off shore racing. I have never seen so many kids ask teams for posters, pictures, autographs, etc as I have in Orange Beach.

The Community center made a great location for the dry pits. There were lots of fans, vendors and music in the dry pits. Nice job to all who put this event on!!!!!!

Steve, I agree with you 100% !!! OB is the friendliest places I have ever been to. Gary (Live Bait) had a great awards ceromony there last year for APBA. We had a great time.

Gary, When I spoke with you in Biloxi out in front of the Beau' Rivage, I did not know of the accident. Now I see why you commented that you hoped it would get better. Wish we could have made the trip to OB. See you guy's in St. Pete. Dave Warden

Couldn't agree more with the positive comments listed above. Orange Beach is an absolutely awesome place to visit and an even better place to race. Gary Nichols and his entire staff that produced this event did an amazing job. Our race against Gary and Billy was as exciting as I have ever been involved in. Make no mistake, these guys are tough competitors, but the kind that you can trust while racing side by side - at 140+! I'm proud to call them my friends!
