Default Class 1 Spain

Steve and Bjorn Double up Pole and race win.
Our boat Hydrolift 99 gets 3rd in the Med Cup. Not bad for one of the oldest boats in the fleet.

The average lap speeds are significantly higher than our Supercats. I think they are between 120 - 130 with top race speeds about 140.

There are 10 - 11 teams this year. The Victory team boats are currently 2nd & 4th in the Championship points. This season and last have been dominated (understatement) by Steve Curtis and the Spirit of Norway team.

They try to take advantage of "ram effect". That type setup (intake sealed to engine vs. engine room as plenum)is not permitted under our rules. Two years ago Jim Dyke ran an identical setup at the APBA Worlds in KW but I don't think he was eligible to win.

They are running an air restricter at 64mm to reduce hp and control the speeds.

The Europeans would come over and play but the rules ban shaft type boats. The ideas behind unification should include uniting the boat racing world.

Lambo is pulling out soon and there needs to be a change done now.

Shaft drives are legal in APBA & SBI (w/ 300 lbs penalty). OSS has also allowed Gary Nichols (Live Bait) to run with a weight penalty (300 lbs I think). The real issue is tunnel width. All 3 domestic sanctioning bodies require a maximum tunnel width of 66". All C1 boats (past & present) have tunnels wider than (Jotun cut their Scism and widened it) 66". In fact, most are around 70" and some as wide as 74". Our rules should be as simple as theirs. They have length and minimum weight. Tunnel width is not contemplated...and shouldn't be.

Can't make the north trip but will be in Sarasota. Tested today and everything seems great.
