I suspect you found the gravel bar that extends about half way out into the cove past Hi-Lift near the Lakemont Shores boat ramp. We hit it with a prob back in the 1970's. You need to stay on the North half of cove to avoid it when the water is at this elevation. Back in the late's 70's they would lower the water enough that it was fully exposed. They used to have some markers, but they are long gone. (Somebody that owns a prop shop might have removed them.)

I wondered why they pulled the water down this year using the spillway floodgates instead of making a lot of money using the generators. (I think this is why the GRDA has not been opposed to this draw down because it gives them a reason to bring the lake down three feet in August during peak generating season). It looks like the answer is in this weeks Chronicle on Page A7. The reason is a FERC edict that the dissolved oxygen measurement in the water below the generators be done with no generation.

If they are all about the money, why do they do nothing but give warnings in Duck Creek and never give tickets? I watched them stop 15 people, at least, Sunday evening and they didn't write a single one of them tickets. Just got close enough to yell at them and send them on their way.
