Newbie question
Hey guys, be easy on me i'm a newbie
I have a chance of buying my first boat, a 25 footer (all i can afford, I'm young and married )
Anyway I'm located in downriver Michigan and was wondering if there were enough afforable poker runs or get togethers in the area? I'm new to the sport and want to learn. Also would I be welcome with my little 25 footer? Looking on line I see some of these poker runs cost over $1000. do you guys ever just get together and go out?
I'm worried that boating by myself may get boring like riding my bike by myself did. You can only ride so long by yourself.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

Re: Newbie question
Please check us out http://www.bolteinsurance.com/leopa/index.html
Our main Poker Run is $250.00 including dockage at PIB for two nights. The Spring and fall run cost $50.00 We also attend many AYC events in the area and 25' offshore style boat is not a problem!
Please feel free to contact any of us for more info or questions. We are about boaters having fun and sharing the same passion for fun on the water (the HP doesn't suck either)
For some reason the OSO link feature is not working so cut and paste this http://www.bolteinsurance.com/leopa/index.html

Re: Newbie question
Maximus2942,
What you described above is exactly why we started this club. We are just a group of people who share the same interest's in boating. Our club does not just do poker runs there are several other structured events that we do each year. For more information on these events you can go to our web site (Leopa.com) and take a look at our calender of events. As Scott mentioned we also try to get together as a group and visit other clubs or places on the lake. If you have more questions please feel free to ask.

Re: Newbie question
Thanks Dave and Scott
Looks like I need to just take the jump and buy the boat. The two boats I was looking at both sold (start the search again).
Again thanks for responding and Dave I see your in Monroe, I'm in flat rock. When I get a boat we will have to meet up and you can give me some pointers.
