Friday went real well... the water level is down some but April showers should help... had lunch at the dockside and cruised around a bit and had a few beers since the cops weren't out... they used to not bother me but since labor day last year on the sand bar I lost a lot of respect for those prics, 24 yrs old and can't even walk around the sandbar with an open beer w/o being harassed for my ID... THREE TIMES by the same old senile cop!

it was on the south sand bar by the marina and bridge... 3 teams of two cops walked around the sandbar hasselling anyone that looked 30 and under with a beer for id's (because everyone carries their id's in their bathing suit right?). if you couldnt present one to them u were escorted to the cop shop which was set up on the beach where normally u could relax and enjoy the day from shore to run your info. it was a poor showing of class by antrim county sherriff to say the least. one step closer to law enforcement ruining a once great place to enjoy time with friends and family. if there is no foul play law enforcement should mind there own business or else people will stop making the trip and supporting the county with money. ill start fillig up my 120 gallon tank at home and buying food before i come up instead of the local store, make my lunch on the water instead of going and spending $30 at the dockside... by over-enforcing they make a few extra dollars at first but it will hurt them in the long run. i love the lake and its locals and hope the problem is resolved this year so that torch lake sandbar can be enjoyed how its supposed to be enjoyed instead of it turning into a 'bud bash' sort of environment with one cop for every two boaters...

Oh ya for sure on the snowmobile trails... private land owners and cops alike have done their part to close trails and ruin a once great mid Michigan sport. Parking at a trail stop sign and pulling over anyone that comes by has had any beers is pretty rediculous, especially when there are kids riding with us. The thing that gets me the most is that its the same guys that grew up having all these great times and places to go now they want to ruin it for everyone... on a different note- anyone going to make it out before memorial day?

Law enforcement has the full support of the tax payers in Antrim county. The sand bar is totally out of hand at times.
The home owners on the south end of Torch hate the noise and trash (beer cans, etc) that washes up on their property. I won't bring my daughter out to the sand bar on the weekends with a bunch of drunk 20 somethings setting up tables for drinking games, beer bongs, etc.
Yes, it sucks having all the law enforement around that this behavior attracts.
