The best launch is at Elmwood Park in Greilickville (which is just up M-22 on the east side of west bay heading into the Leelanau Peninsula). It got plenty of room to turn around the biggest rigs, sells ice and is only $5 to launch. No gas there though. The launch at Clinch park is decent, but is usually a clusterf*ck to turn around in and is always busy with tourists, etc. Just go to Elmwood. It's only another 3 miles up the road and much easier.

Yes, Elmwood has a great launch and long side docks. Saw a big cat, two big Baha's, big Fountain and one medium and one large Sonics together at the launch last Sunday.
For anyone visiting the area Sam's club has a huge gas station a few miles south of town. Very easy to pull thru.

Another gas idea for anyone coming up from the south- If you are taking M-115 to 37 (easiest way to Elmwood from most points south) hit the Mobil at the intersection of M-115 and 37. It's on the right side of the intersection and is literally a pull-through off 115 and then back on to 37N. First pump you hit is the diesel one for the truck and then next ones are the regular gas pumps. Pumps are close enough together that you can fill both sides of the boat at once if you have port and stb tanks. Plus no pay-at-pump so you can just fill her up and pay after without messing with the CC maximums. Once your full- pull straight out onto 37 northbound!
