Or know anybody that does, full time, year round?
Tell me about winter and challenges to and from the island?

Thanks

Island is a great place to live. Ferry runs year round till mother nature plays havoc for the ferry and then your screwed. Ice jams are the only thing that will screw up your commute back and forth. I haven't lived on the Island but have many friends that do and spent many weekends on the marshes or in the bays.

----I live about a mile up the river from Harsens. Before we bought this house I looked for property on Harsens for more than a couple of years. I grew up on an island and really like the atmosphere. People are great over there. Commuting is somewhat of a problem at times but you just have to adjust your schedule. Keep a lot of stuff in the freezer during the winter and make sure you have a good book. Then once you are retired,,,fugetaboutit and just have fun..........Bill S

----Varies,,,Last winter it was pretty bad, I think, although I wasn't keeping an eye on it in particular. Apache John might have a handle on that. The winter before we never saw any ice at all thru the whole winter. Id guess as an average maybe 5 days. There are also ways to get to the mainland over the ice sometimes, but a vehicle would have to be on the mainland........Bill S

I once worked with a guy who flew his plane from Harsens to a mainland airport to get to work. He kept a car at the airport and could drive home if weather grounded him.
