Recommend family activities around Chicago and Ohio
Hi all
I'm taking my family (wife and 16/13 year olds) on a driving vacation next week, not bringing the boat. Was looking at places to visit and was thinking Six Flags Illinois, Hocking Hills State Park, Kelly's Island and Chicago-river tour. Can any locals recommend any good locations or sites? Didn't have to much time to do research yet.
Thanks for any suggestions!!!

Kellys is cool with the Glacier Grooves and then you could take the ferry over to PIB if you still have time.

You also cant go wrong with the Hocking Hills - so many caves to check out

The river tour is cool...then you guys can walk from there over to Navy pier and walk around there...the new ferris wheel is nice.. there's usually a band playing at the end of the pier by the beer garden on the weekends late afternoon....and after you experience that you can walk over to MIllenium park and check out "The Bean" other then that if your not looking for good food or a play/show to see then most of the other stuff to do is deeper inside the city or in the burbs...Michigan Ave is only about 5 block in from the lake if you want to experience the "tourists" and see all the shops-n-stuff too

Oh and over by Millennium park there's the recently open Maggie Daley Park that has a skating ribbon and rock climbing wall, mini golf and hot dog stand.

Kelleys island is more layed back and kid friendly then pib. If you look to go to the bay do that first during the day then go to kelleys after. Both islands have things to do with the kids and lots to explore. You can take the jet express to both and rent a golf cart to run around the islands.
