Looking at the Racers Packages that ILMOR was offering, about $31,000. With less parasitic drag and less weight, the Indy should be a little bit faster than the #6. Don't know about Merc pricing...

No blower- same or slightly more HP
No belt dust all over your bilge
<better top end rush less midrange and low end>
more compact- a tad longer but not as tall
All aluminum
Better mileage
great service and support (this is all about your "guy" though)
better drive- (less parasitic loss)
Factory CMI's
Far fewer computer issues than the merc 700
Lifespan is incredible with little to no maintenance, and some guys reporting hours at 600+ with nothing more than fluid changes.

No problem, happy to talk about this product.
I was quite skeptical as to why bother finding a replacement to a BBC and thought for a long time the Ilmor was an answer to a question not worth asking.
I was wrong. Its a very worthy mill thats quite different from whats out there now, and I couldn't be more pleased with my choice after 2 seasons of ownership.
Although not as hip as the new gen 4 725, the gen3 710 isn't far off and it never fails to delight even my most hardcore buddies, and scare my passengers with a push of the stick.
It also delights me at the gas pump routinely getting around 2.5 MPG on long ocean voyages. This gives my smallish boat a decent range on a 100 gallon tank. Ive taken multiple 300 mile round trips and this thing just purrs.
Idles like a kitten around the docks and howls like a raped ape roaring right in between a BBC and a Lambo - it has to be heard to be believed.

Great pics, I recognize Avalon Harbor/water taxi in the 1 pic. That is great MPG you are getting, amazing! I'm trying to remember what drive you are running on Lavey?
Thanks,
Dean

Im running a Teague platinum/BRavo XR
Mileage- pretty incredible IMHO. It makes runs like Del Rey to avalon a cheaper affair than an Imax 3d movie. (really)
Chicks ride for free (of course) and sausages buy drinks and gas- or better yet bring their own rides -
To be fair I don't rail it too hard in the ocean with passengers
I typically run 35-60 out to the ithsmus then when Im in the protected water "Burst" up to about 80-85 for 3-5 mile stretches then calm it down a bit. I havent had a single person regardless of experience or ownership tell me the mill doesn't deliver.
A buddy on the run to Avalon he would stick it up to about 45-50 then push it forward and laugh maniacally over and over repeating "holy-$hit" everytime the mill cracked into the top half of the tach.
