Call Jonn Cambell At Alliance Marine. He Can Get You A Policy With Lloyd's Of London. It Won't Be Cheap But If A Storm Comes It Will Sound Like A Great Deal !

Re: Insurance for FL w/ hurricane Coverage?????

I live off Tampa Bay and keep my boat on a list at my house. I have an agreed policy with N.B.O.A. in Sarasota with a Wind Storm Damage policy that will cover my boat in a Tropical Depression, Tornado or Hurricane. The Wind Storm Policy is a 10% deuctible and so far N.B.O.A. is the only place I have found to be able to do this for me.
My policy just came up for remewal and they will renew for me. I will be shopping insurance in the next 2 weeks just to be sure I am still getting the best deal possible.

Good Luck because boat insurance in Florida is hard to come by especially for performance boats and performance fishing boats and a wind storm policy is about impossible lately in Florida. N.B.O.A. said that the underwritter I has last year would not insure my boat (38TE Fountain with trip 275 Verado's) and they found only 1 company that would still insure for Florida. I do not know what I will do if these people drop out of Florida...sell the boat I guess?

If you can't get huricane coverage of some kind, you can't get financing.

I just spoke with an agent that used to insure performance boats, and doesn't any more beacause of a claim a few weeks ago.

He blamed it onthe internet and magazines publishing all these record top speeds for all the boats. He said if the boat went less than 80 mph it would be easier.

Alliance gave me a quote, but with a 10% named storm deductible.

Re: Insurance for FL w/ hurricane Coverage?????

ASG, it seems like the best I can find too on Wind Storm Deduct's is now 10%.
I was wanting to possibly sell or trade in my 38TE Fountain (top speed is 70ish) for a 42 EX or lighting with 525's. NOBODY would touch this boat in Florida! Either they stopped writting for Florida, or the boat goes to fast or the few I could find that would do agreed value policies want around $7-8,000 on a $250,000 boat with NO windstorm policy.

Seriously, between the insurnace crap and gas prices I am about ready to give up boating and sell my Fountain. Buy a Ferrari and join the local Ferrari club, do track days and poker runs with them. It would actually be cheaper than boating and much less hassel. I am losing the boating bug very quickly this year.

Markel will write policies in FL for performance boats with windstorm coverage, although it has gone up from last year by about 40%.
