Nothin.. and it sucks !
Boat insurance- all performance boats

This is the way it is .... like it or not... the insurance companies do not like anything that goes over 100 MPH. However as a former insurance adjuster in the State of Florida
a boat that does 85 can easily max out at 75MPH. My point being that if your boat does 85- 90 you tell them it does 75. Unless you have an accident with fatalities and the State gets involved in an investigation, no insurance company will deny a claim due to the top speed being off by 10 -15 Mph. I have alot of info on boats that I will not post due to the insurance company monitoring( if they do). the end point being I have never heard of an insurance adjuster tear apart an engine and mic the cylinders to find the cubic inch!!! But I have heard of boaters boasting that there 80 MPH boat goes 95 ... be smart and use the info in your advantage !!! Just my 2 cents. not saying to not tell the truth.... but the insurance sure dont

When I insured my cat the agent asked for length and make and horsepower. The next statement that i heard was the top speed of my boat. The funny thing was he was dead on, they have speed calculator programs just like in the Bam web site. So much for fibbing about top speed, but good luck with that. Doug

Who is the best to contact about insuring a cat.........say a Cougar 27 MTR, a DCB F-26, or a Spectre 30........rigged w/ twin 300s?

Any insight is much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Markel is probably the only place that will insure a cat. The agent that you go through will probably contact Markel regardless of what agent that you call. Hope this helps. Doug

MB, If you are trying to insure a cat that has a top speed under 100 you might find a carrier other than Markel but that is the only company that would touch my boat. I did have an independent agent cover my 85 m.p.h. Eliminator cat a few years ago. Doug
