Best place to Insure a 25 Cat
Best place to Insure a 25 Cat?
Ok, I have my 29 Scarab (along with my home and 2 Cars) Insured with State Farm but they said they will not insure “Powered Catamarans”; than in the same sentence he asked if it was like a 28 Skater that they insure (WTF?) But I may just say’ F*&%k it and go with the “self-Insurance”
36yrs old with No Points (EVER) – No Claims (EVER) – and perfect credit (over 750)
25' Motion with (2) Merc 200hp's

Re: Best place to Insure a 25 Cat
I would think Markel will insure it, They have insured our 28' Skater and 32' Skater. How do you "Self Insure"?? Can you tell me more about it? Does that mean you have NO Insurance, and if you get a $500,000 Liability claim, you have to defend it out of pocket, and if there is a settlement to be paid, you have to pay that yourself? I hear the term "Self Insure" all the time on this board, but never understood what it means,, the loss of the hull, boat, trailer, etc. is not what I am concerned about, that value is finite,,, the Liability is the issue.

Self-Insurance pretty much means my personal property and liability insurance will cover up to 500K if I do something stupid and get sued. If I wreak the boat, my loss.. I wont get compensation.
