No, we CAN in most areas. If you are curious about TX, we have a lot of people insured there. We can, but don't write Markel in TX out of respect for EP. True, TX is a big state but we offer the same rates for Markel & that is their "home" state.

We write American Reliable and others in TX. Please let me know if we can help.

Thanks for asking.

is a 30' cobra sportfish considered a cat for high insurance rates? and will this boat get a person cat experience if they plan to move up someday?

Shawn-
Then why did your company deny insurance last year? 20 years of cat experience, no tickets, no claims, boat runs 120 & has an "excellent" survey. At that time, you said it was because we're on the Gulf Coast.
What changed?
Due

PS: I have the utmost respect for Elton Porter insurance; they (especially Ken) have been great to work with, but the rate I'm paying is..... well you know.

That area was an issue but the market has opened up. The carrier was & is taking it slow. Florida is still not available with American Reliable. On the other hand you have Markel in FL and they do NOT plan on leaving.

I would expect that these insurance rates and requirements will soon kill the non-racing cat industry.

The boat you are looking at is the Predator model & yes, it is a good "stepping stone". It would not be rated as high as a true cat. It is considered a "mulithull center console sportfisher". Email me if you would like a rate (or fill out the form on my site).

P.S. Fishing boats that are cats are not rated the same as a performance cats (although, they are both fast).

If anyone is thinking about putting a fishing pole in their performance boat, that won't make it a fishing boat in the insurance company's eyes.
