Default Seeking insurance 38ft Cigarette - Florida

Where is a good place to insure a used 38 foot twin ~500 hp Cigarette Top Gun boat?

The boat will BE KEPT IN SOUTHFLORIDA, hurricane proofed dry dock facility. Boat is used. Building year 1998, value 125k$, comes with a full survey report.

What is the absolutely minimum of experience I have to collect on this type of boat before I need to ask for this at all?
As I understood rules in the U.S. are as followed: You have to go without insurance a certain amount of time before you have a chance to ask for a quote.

Is there any insurance which will cover me in the U.S. and in the Bahamas or do they all cover U.S. waters only?

Post here or PM me.

P.S. Any guesses how many people go without insurance in Florida at all?

As you already know it will be hard cause you are a absentee owner with no experiance. Markel is going to be your only outlet, but the absentee thing is the problem you will have.

Meaning that all boat owners in Florida are U.S. residents? No Canadian or European boat owners?

I'd be interested in hearing the results of this, because this is pretty much the only reason i dont have a boat in the US.

Call me old fashioned, but i dont like the idea of running around in a $100K boat and no insurance

The agent had said that the no experience may be a problem for you. The absentee owner has to do with theft or neglect of the boat. If you are not local and are only here a few times a year, something that is wrong may not be discovered for months after it has happened. It is standard procedure for insurance companies to even deny homeowners coverage if the dwelling is vacant or unoccupied for more than 60 days. I guess they just dont want people that are not around checking on things.

And having no insurance ????? not exactly the best idea, especially with a performance boat.
