31 Awesome Cat
How much liability ($) should you have??

Looking as a Cat, which I can't get ins for anyways (non previous cat ownership, or lack of Tres schooling) but all they quoted me was 300k. What good is that? I've run non insured for 20yrs knock on wood, never had a issue. Gettin older (wiser??) would like some protection. I know some say all you can afford ...

300K on the boat is fine if you have a PLUB overhead.

I am shopping around for insurance as well and am having them quote me both 300 and 500.

BUT I think I am also going to look into an umbrella and I've heard a few folks on here say their umbrella policy requred they carry 500 in liability before they would write an unbrella policy.

That is true in most cases. As far as how much liability should someone have... Everyone's situation is unique but most seem to carry $300,000 CSL

Don't even mention the word boat
HHMMM, if you can get it under your home owners go with the 1mil Umbrella, if its a seperate policy, at least a few hundred K. Boats are cheap when a Lawyer gets involved, you will really know what expensive is, broken arm 50K chit like that.

I swear its almost enough to make me go get my Law degree.

I have $300K on the Boatowner's Policy with $2M overhead in the PLUB. They are all with the same insurer; and these amounts were per their instructions.
