Default Insurance for theft on seadoo in ontario

I just got a quote for my insurance for a seadoo, and it only covers theft if the seadoo is in a locked building and there are signs of forced entry. Is this normal, and is there any way to get theft covered more fully, I plan on keeping it on a beach trailer at my cottage, but under this policy it would not be covered. please, and help would be appreciated. what do all you seadoo owners do? do I just risk it and lock it up best as I can?

thanks
Jon

I have exactly the same issue. I have a lift that is outside on my dock, and it is not insured for theft if it is stored there. Total BS.

I just read through one of my carrier's coverages and exclusions and it covers theft of the sea doo regardless of where it is at etc... Call me if you want a quote on it or have further questions. I can send you a copy of the policy to review as well.

So sorry perlmudder, I failed to look where you were from. The policy is only for the united states, no canada for that carrier. My apologies again, but thank you for taking the time to call me on Friday.

Good Luck, I am going through the same ordeal. I have been paying $530 for the past 5 years and I was under the impression that my Seadoo was insured while I was travelling, etc. No one explained that there was an indorsement limiting th theft part. They were more than happy to take my money and run. Now I am exploring raising my deductible, but they tell me that $500 ded is not possible!
I have lowered my value to $11000 with the trailer and I was quoted a $53 dollars reduction. I wonder why boats, motorcycles, atv's, etc are not subjevt to this theft endorsement? They can be stolen just as easy as any other vehicle or RV or Rec equipment!!!!! I am located in Alberta.
It is my understanding that we are not required to carry insurance and that the seadoo is insured with the vehicle insurance when being towed.
This is outrageous and very frustrating!!
