Younger insurance on a 100mph+ O/B cat?
Thinking of growing into an ouboard cat.
Can someone give me an idea of what it will cost for insurance?
95 32 Skater w 300 mercury Outboards. Top speed 103mph. Could swap parts around to make boat under 100mph for the first year if need be.
One year of previous ownership on a 32 sunsation w 454's. No boating accidents, no driving accidents. one speeding ticket in 3 years. Nothing major.
28 years old.

The problem is your prior boat is a v-hull and the carriers require prior Cat ownership. You may still qualify for insurance but your rate will be higher etc. Feel free to complete an app on our site and I will email you a quote.

Markel or American Reliable... those are your options.
Anyone over the age of 35 can get insurance on a CAT for the first time provided the speed in less than 85mph. Even if your prior is a V-Hull.
Keep in mind that insurance companies set guidelines for these programs. When you're looking into CAT insurance for the most part there are two programs. Markel and American Reliable. There really are not many options for you to choose from. You MAY be able to get insurance with Markel but that is a big "if" and are you willing to do training with Tres Martin Performance School? If you are willing to do the school then Markel may consider. I think we talked about this on the phone already, but I'm not sure.

None so far. Everyones sayin I cant even get insurance being under 30 years old with no previous cat ownership. I just recieved a PM that looks promising though with some decent numbers. Ill post up more info after I get a direct quote from them.

I really dont want to get into a 26' cat.. I feel more secure in the larger boats. We have a pretty rough lake. I had a 27 and upgraded to a 32, I really dont want to take a step backwards for two years til im 30 and then be trying to sell another boat..
