Insurance options for CATS over 130mph
As many of the CAT owners out there obviously know, the availability of CAT insurance is slim and your markets are limited, particularly for those of you with boats capable of over the 130mph mark.
It is important for you all to know that the policies out there and available to you are different. Whether or not they are particularly good or bad policies is in the eye of the beholder. What is good for one CAT owner, may not be important or applicable to another CAT owner. Not all policies out there work for every boater. Each boat owner must individually assess their needs, desires for coverage and levels of services, coverage and standards they want.
It is important when obtaining quotes and/or coverage that you talk to the agent offering the quote, obtain a specimen policy and discuss how your particular situation and desires relate to the offered coverage. Again, no one insurance company has the solution for 100% of boaters out there. At Wake Zone, that is why we choose to represent many insurance companies and not just one.
Wake Zone writes CAT insurance through three reputable insurance carriers. Each one of those policies differs. Does that mean that they are bad policies? No, not at all! Each one fits a specific boater differently and those differences can be discussed with the agent quoting you rates. While American Reliable is great for one boater, Markel may be the best option for another, etc. The point is having an open conversation about your policy/quote so that you can see what ALL your options are is the best course of action for any CAT owner shopping their insurance.
