Lol
My wife was looking at our budget the other day and almost fell over when she seen how much car/motorcycle/ boat insurance was.

Compared to Mid west it kills you here.

Get a quote with a 5K deductable. It'll save you some $$$.... and let's the insurance company know that you aren't the type of person that puts in a claim when some kid breaks a window or red wine gets spilled on the carpet. It saved me hundreds!!!

Insurance is crazy. When I bought my house in 2005 I paid Allstate $330 per year. House cost 140k.
Now best I can do is USAA for 1024 per year. They are saying it would cost $201k to replace my house!! Are they high???
Truth is insurance has gone sky high because of disasters and bogus claims. I know a lot of folks around here have had their roofs replaced because of "hail damage"
ETA: Gal gal at USAA said running my deductibles from 1000 to 4000 would only save less than $50 per year.

If you have deep pockets you can self insure.

Come on, it's not that bad, we just moved here last October from Missouri (LOTO) and our car and boat insurance is about the same as it was back home, we had everything insured with American Family and now we've got Allstate down here for the cars, Progressive for the boat.............................................. .......... I'd have to look up the home and flood insurance, which might be 10% higher, but that's the only one, we've got great electric hurricane shutters, a tile roof, plus the house is only 10 years old, also, I had a wind mitigation report done (cost $200 well worth it) on the house before we bought it and it got a A+, so we saved a bunch on the homeowners.
