Thinking of getting a Jag

What can you guys tell me? You don't hear much about these boats. This would be my first cat. Are they good handling boats? How do they run compared to the Skaters and MTI's?

Lil Zeke-
Jags are great handling boats, are good in rough water and are very strong because of all-composite construction (no wood/balsa), thicker layups and additional bulkheads. Of course, this adds weight; thus, they won't be as fast (with the same power) as MTI and Skater. But if ultimate speed isn't your top priority and you like something different, the Jags are a great buy IMHO.

Do Jags come with cabins? The only ones I have seen have been ex raceboats and none of them have had cabins.

Some of the Jags were built with cabins; I've attached photos of Doug's "On Time". Look carefully at the port and starboard side of the cockpit photo and you can see the doors to the cabin.

Also, there's room under the deck on most of them to make a low profile day "cabin", but you'd have to access it through the deck hatch. I've been thinking about doing that to ours, but I doubt that we'd ever use it.

I know af a 35 race boat that is being redone into a pleasure boat with new everything. The boat will be for sale when finished. The owner has two 35's.
