Hi Quent,
I heard about your latest project. It is a beautiful boat, as is the motor. I hope you get it done in time for the TRR.
We will be over as usual with the rest of Nashville Gang .
I am looking forward to seeing you and the new Lavey.
Best Regards,
Steve

What happenned to this project?

It should be done by now let's see some photos and GPS speed numbers.

Anyone know the deal on this boat it would be interesting to hear what it tops out at with over 1000HP single.

Kap, the boat is very close to being finished. Jeff and Chris have gone far beyond my expectations. I am leaving for Europe next week for 2 weeks and expect the boat will be waiting for me here in Tennessee when I return.

Interesting side note, the engine is currently set up for 91 octane. There were 2 dyno runs, one on 91 and one on 93. The 93 run yielded 1023 hp at 6400 rpms. The 91 run yielded 967hp at 6400, 881 ft pounds of torque at 4200rpms. At 6200 rpms the 91 octane run yielded 951hp. As I spoke with Dustin and discussed the fact that we have 93 ethanol fuel available routinely, we looked at the current state of the quality of available fuel and decided to leave the tune for 91.

I will not run the boat at 6400 rpms even though the parts and build are spot on. My thinking is that 6200rpms and 951 hp will be adequate for my use. I can always retune to 93. I just want to err on the side of engine longevity. It will cost me 4 or 5 mph but I want the reliability factor.

A 2750 with a Teague 800 runs about 100. With another 150 hp I hope to run 105 or a little better in hot weather with 3 people.
Time will tell and I have been disappointed before in the world of speculative speed. The gps will take away all speculation.

I will post pictures and speeds toward the end of the month. Thanks for your interest. Quent

Well my motor makes the most HP/Torque at 6200RPM and then drops off dramatically. So I completely understand your mindset. In addition, you need to break in your motor for at least 25 hours before you go hammering on it.

Plus, right now even the early A.M. is super hot ie...80+ degrees not the best time to hit it for WOT runs. I agree with leaving the tune at 91 octane right now and just let everything seat and settle in until it gets cooler.

As for top end runs I would not have two other people in the boat when doing WOT top end runs. Plus, I imagine you still need to figure out what prop it is going to like for different tasks.

It is a gorgeous boat and I love the gel the Lavey boys know how to spray a boat. If possible can you post some pictures of the helm, engine, drive, and interior now is the time to bask in your new build glory.

KAP

P.S. As for fuel nothing better than fresh 110 VP leaded gas I don't care who you talk to...it is the best stuff for your motor. Plus it smells like victory.

Hello everybody,

Quents "monster" 2750 is near completion!
All the stereo equiptment came in yesterday which consists of Hertz speakers/sub and Audison amps. Speakers are the HCX130 (8), 12" sub HX380 (1). The amp for the sub is the LRx 1.1k and the amp for the speakers is the LRx 4.1k
Sorry I was unable to get pics of all the stereo quiptment....

The motor and drive are all bloted in and ready to go.
So begining of next week we will be putting the stereo in then we can mount all the interior and once the trailer comes in she will be ready to hit the water.
We are hoping to test it mid next week...

Here are some pics...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok we ran the boa this morning at Elsinore....

This thing is one fast boat!!!!
It gets on plane with ease and accelerates like nobodies business!

Due to the small size of the lake we didn't have near enough room to hold it open and let it fly. Also because the engine is brand new and all that we didn't want to push it to hard...

With that being said, our prop for the run was a 33 pitch maxximus with the diffuser cut off. We got right at 100mph (98-99mph) at 5700rpm and it is still pulling hard! At that rpm, the engine sounds like it is just cruising.
The engines redline is at 6400rpm and it is planned to run at 6200rpm at top speed so that means we still have 500 more rpm to go. If we had more lake and some clean water, we could have gotten some higher numbers.

Once it's all said and done, we feel that 105mph is easily obtainable.
The customer is going to be working with Hydromotive to test out some 5 blades, possibly 6 blades...
