Default JL Audio 8.8's in a 29' Nu Era

Has any Nu Era owners ever installed a pair of JL Audio 8.8 drivers in their boat? I currently have installed a pair 7.7 and I was able to install them with just a little help of a 1/2 speaker spacer. Due to the driver depth with the 8.8's I will need an additional 2" of depth space. Everywhere I look on this boat there is no real good place to mount these. My options, fabricate an enclosure to fit some were in the side pockets or mount them below the rear bench. I prefer under the rear bench but I ill need to create a 2" Speaker spacer in order to install these deep drivers. The built in coolers under the bench only give me about 3.5" and I need almost 5.5 inches for these 8.8's. If anyone has installed these speakers or something similar where one has to do some customizing I would appreciate some ideas. Or maybe another location in the boat that I did not think of.

Thank you

I'm looking in to this a lot lately and you might want to give the Wet Sounds 808 a look. They have a more shallow mounting depth, without running to the site to confirm...I think they will fit without modification. They are also much less expensive.

Thank you for the reply. I got the speakers for Fathers Day and already open the boxes. I am going to build some custom speaker rings and locate them under the rear bench.
