Deerfield races..saw the protype on new 27 Magnum
Mag 27 the Nationals in Deerfield were great...the finish between Misccosukee Gaming and the Berman group was great with Misccosukee winning by only 3 boat lengths.
The Platinum 41 ft Manfacture Production 1,Hull # 1 that we crewed for had to shut down his port engine half way thu the race, however still won the national title. The Magnum we purchased came Vern Gilbert from Gentry Marine and has two of the four small blocks the Gentry ran in one of his boats.Vern Gilbert who now owns Gentry and the Driver of the Platinum was Tom's throttle/ mechanic and wants to get back some of the titles that he and Tom held for many years.
Also visited with Magnum in North Miami, real nice people and helped me on some research I am doing on the 3 Maltese's we have. We also saw the prototype on the new 27 they are planning to show at Miami this year..great lines.
Last question is the Vixen web site still active and what do you know about a 30 ft Magnum that was cut down from a 40 ft that was called Head Hunter. The original owners could have been Vonsarka (spelling) from the East Coast. Bud

"Head Hunter" was a single engine class II race boat in the late 1970's. It was raced by a guy out of Ohio Vaughn Szarka (sp?) This boat was recently for sale in the boattrader for something like $12,000. The boat was located in Calif. at that time. I've got an old picture from the Benihana Grand Prix, (1979), but I cant post it due to computer illiteracy. Maybe someone on the "Classic" forums could help??

Re:New 27 ft Magnum...for real ...saw it
Thanks for the info on the 30 Ft Head Hunter have spoke with the owner and will try to see it on my next trip west.Any pictures would be great
Mag 27 on the new 27 same hull as the current one new deck, wrap around windshield looks very Euro with Magnum lines. It will have a cabin and raise hatch to contain the big blocks. It looks like they increase the free-board with the new deck
