Default '75 magnum Maltese

I just bought a 1975 Maltese, boat is in process of complete Restoration. I mean complete. I will post pics as it happens. Motors are 350,s which are being built to 400+ h.p. Drives are Volvo duo props, and the X dimension has been raised. My question is upper 70,s to 80 m.p.h. realistic? Very excited about project, I have had a few different off shores, and always wanted a Magnum, cant wait till she's done. Any input on anything about them would be great!

If you go to address above you can check out the pics. Restoration is just beginning, I will update as things change. The magnum will be white bottom, red hull sides, and white deck with red stripe. The windshield will be a custom fairing, not sure yet what style to go with. Should be done by April, I hope.

Mine was a 1970, full race conversion. Back in the day, the first set motors in the race boat were 355cid, 400+hp each. With Bravos and a low x-dim we saw 66 without nose cones, and 70 with them. Same engines, bravos with a high x-dim, we saw low 70s without nose cones(didn't need them). The final run, almost 10 years later, 374cid, 14:1 CR, headers, port work, mod carb, B-class stage II motor, 650+ hp each, 102mph. See thread below for info and pics.

As the GLSCS referee I had to DQ more than once Skips P5 Short Circuit Magnum with smallblocks & bravo's when they raced Grumpy's Mag, they both could run high 70's into the 80's My trs 350hp smallblock Mag [P88 Believe It] would run high 60's.

Sounds like a great project. Always wanted a Magnum....had a deal lined up on one, but wife killed it...wanted a cabin. Got an older 30 velocity....has cabin...wife still hasn't been in it. Boat has 350's and also Duo-props....interested to find out what you learn about the duo props and their ability to hold up.

Shafer 2222 you may have a 1974 Maltese based on the air/engine vents exiting the stern vs the top of the gunwale on either side of the engine hatch.Send me the ID# found on the stern just below the rub rail Starboard side and I will check it against the master list we have from Magnum. Bud
