Question 1978 Magnum 25

How many 25ft Magnums where built?Mine is in the December issue of Hotboat, readers rides. Its a great boat but porpuses at 30 mph and faster in calm water unless you introduce some down tab. Any info of other Mag 25 handling would be helpfull. Also in 3 to 4ft seas at wot (62mph) it handles like a dream! thanx Andy...

Andy,

I don't know much about mine just yet as I haven't had it out on the water.

Tell me about your power and how the boat is rigged. Could you post some pics?

Mine is a running project boat, single SBC and Volvo. Pictures of mine can be seen on my www link.

Andy, your boat is in the January 2002 issue of Hotboat.
I have always admired that hull configuration.
Is it a true 25 foot hull?
I would e-mail Magnum Marine and ask them. I did once and they got back to me in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, I mistakenly deleted that information.
Nice boat,is it for sale?

Wildfire I just checked your boat out ,like the red.Our boats are Magnum 25s but totally diferent.mine has no windshield but has a cable running the length of the deck. How wide is yours, long down the keel from transom to nose? Mine also has no bow rail but has 2 docking lights L+R on the bow.No swim platform.Tonight I will purchase a scanner and post some pix later. If I can figure how to use it!

Andy,

Apache21 used to own my Magnum up until about 6 weeks ago. He is not psychic, but is a pretty good guy otherwise.

I am anxious to see the pictures of yours. It does sound totally different. I will try to take some measurements of mine when it quits raining.

Check your hull ID number. If it starts with MAG, then your boat is registered correctly and is a Magnum. One thing that seems to be contradictory is that the Magnum Marine website says that this model was discontinued in 1975. However, Magnum is and always has been a custom builder. They could have made one for a special customer in 1978, who knows?

Try emailing Magnum from their website. I sent them an email and recieved a response from Katrin Theodoli herself in a day or two.

Good luck

Andy don't be surpirsed if you don't find a serial number at the rear right on your transom. I have seen a 27 Magnum in which the serial number was inside the engine compartment. The serial number will tell what number your boat was and what year and length. Call Giovanni at magnum, He might have the orginal pics of your boat. Spoke with a guy in Arizona that had a 25 and the serial number was in the engine compartment.

My boat was painted before I bought it,It doesnt have a serial # on the transom so I just assumed it was painted over.I purchased it(boat) from an estate sale, the guy who had it painted was killed in a skidoo accident. The brother of the dead guy told me there was a tag in the engine compartment but I hav'nt found it.The good thing with Canadian reg is that they keep records forever. The boat was originally sold to Tiffany Boatworks of Saresota Fl where it was raced with a 427 chev and TRS. It has three fuel filling locations only one is used the others must have been conected to (since removed) race tanks.Do you have the phone # of the guy at Magnum?
