Offshore Racing, Classic Magnums
Welcome to OSO!! The battles on Barnegat Bay with "Jolly Roger" and "Rated X" (both 27' Magnums) are one of the things that got me interested in racing!
Just out of curiosity, why didn't you race in the Ocean-Hennessy/Bennihana??

We are all glad he is on the Magnum site...now maybe we can get many of our questions answered.
If any of you pay a visit to SW Florida you need to stop by and see him, don't miss the chance, just ask Jeff and Aaron.
However if you bend his ear to long he will never get the 29-9 done .

The "Daddy Cool" 35 Cigarette was bought in Miami in early 1982 by Jose & Mickey, from Panama City, Panama. I finished rigging the boat in Naples, Fl & raced several races with them. The boat was sold to Art Swift (Daddy Cool himself) from Naples, Fl. We missed the first race, APBA, but made all others that year & finished 2nd in Open Class.

The reason that I didn't race the Bennihana Race was he it did not fit any APBA class. I did race several Bennihana races with Billy Martin "Bounty Hunter" boats, 35' & 40' Cigarettes.

The fact that a lot of local NJ & NY boats didn't fit APBA classes is one of the reasons that I originated the Barnegat Bay Races in the 70's, Barnegat Bay Marathon & the Brass Monkey Marathon. Best part of the bay race was that I had a class for every boat. Fast or slow. Usually 60-70 entries & everyone got a trophy with "Winner" on it.
