Don owned both Cigarette and Magnum at the same time in the mid 70's before he sold to Theodoli.

That is when he took the 35 and stretched it and made a 38. He built a light weight dark blue and silver gas powered 38 for himself with a cut down windshield...like a Cig 28 SS...cool boat.

I had a duplicate 38 made and delivered in 76...white and brown with a higher windshield...for New England.

All the early Magnums on the lake [LSC] had pointed windshields.. I knew I could flush out ironhead with this one.
So, what type of deck was first offered up in the early production days of the 27 sport? ......was there always a choice between flat and pointed windshield when ordering a new 27 sport? -or- was on type optional?

I believe all the early sports like Wally's had the Vee windshield, than at some point around 1969-70 the flat windshield was offered. I will put this question on my list to Jack Mathes Jr from Emerald City. I know he changed the deck on the first Li'l SMIDGEN from vee to flat after the crash at the 1974 Kirby Classic. Wally & Jack went to Magnum and ordered a new deck. With in 3 weeks they had the SMIDGEN up and racing again. I will also ask Jack if these were Volvo speedmasters or the Detroit made one's.
