Here are some pic's of my set up on my X-18 Donzi. This should give you the basic Idea. The aluminum angle that the cylinders are attached to is bolted to the drive housing, there is no drilling into the transom.

Thanks for the photos. These will give me a good idea of what has to be done to retrofit my drives. Will be looking at both sx conversion and custom options for winter projects. Also, which AQ drives came with power trim from the factory? Are they reliable?

The SP is the last of the AQ drives and has the most integrated trim setup. From what I've found it is harder to find parts for the 270-280-290 trim setup. The cheapest way I found was the SP stuff. Second would by the Merc add on. My transomplates were shot anyway from years of neglect in saltwater so it was a no brainer

Indeed, it will be a decision based upon what used parts I can find up here in Canada. My drives are in good shape so I can go either way. Right now it would be nice to find a LH 26 pitch Volvo SS prop to finish the season! I learned the hard way to use locktite on the cone retaining bolt! I am now stuck running these original Nibral 20 pitch old school (inboard style) props.

When we raced this 26E Cary [HOT KNOTS] with 355cu Chris Craft 320hp engines back in 1976 it had 15x23p Nibrow props ran 57mph. Not bad when the Trs Mag Ship on it ran 61mph.

These came with the boat. They are probably the original props because there is a date stamped on them 1973. I think the motors are slightly upgraded so perhaps that is when the owner moved up to a 26 pitch stainless. It will be interesting to see where the rpms are when I have the riser fixed.
