Drives me crazy....

Trying to figure out the best way to eliminate the wind noise recording a boat on the water... ??? Any ideas ? I watch all these video's and they would be soo much better w/o the wind noise over the engines !

Yes, use a camera with an external mic input, and use a small condenser mic placed somewhere in the boat out of the wind. Works like a champ.

I bought a mic at Best Buy and taped it behind the windscreen.

I heard you can wrap a t-shirt or something around the mic and it will help. Not sure though. Best bet is the external mic thing behind the windshield

the external plug in works the best and get the mike out of the wind, if that is not an option the item you are looking for is a wind sock...looks loke a feather duster...most video/camera shops can steer you right... the t-shirt or anything for that matter will buffet wind noise but the t-shirt will also buffet the engine noise that you want....kinda like wearing ear muffs...

A wind screen is about the best you can do t reduce the noise along with placing the mic in a protected area.
