Ft Myers Offshore - 2011 New Year's Run - P H O T O S

Aw man, it doesn't get any better.
Fantastic weather today for the 5th ANNUAL FMO NEW YEAR'S RUN.

This one was a little different for me in that I wasn't in a boat for the first time.
It worked out good as all the boats came by Naples Pier and I got a few frames as they passed.

Great to see everyone- thanks for the support and big thanks to Jennifer and her friend Heidi, for helping me with my junk. :drink:

Great shots Jay, thank you !!

What perfect weather we had for our 5th annual fun run to Marco Island. Sunny and 80 degrees with a bit of a breeze out of the SE making for a great ride for most of the boats and a bumpy ride for those under 35 ft. We ran south from the Sanibel Bridge for 45 miles to Marco with a flyby of the Naples pier where Jay no doubt got some great shots of the offshore fleet. There were 32 boats at the start with 3 dropping out for various reasons including the always reliable Team PREDATOR. A broken prop and bad fuel claimed 2 more boats along the way. On the way up to the Sanibel Bridge to meet the fleet and bring them back to Marco, I blew an oil line and the port motor immediately shut down. I continued the last 10 miles on 2 motors, put the boat in a slip at the Sanibel Harbor Resort, jumped into my nephew’s boat called “Bob’s My Uncle” and made our way over to the start line with 10 minutes to spare. CJ’s at the Esplanade is a great venue for our group and the outdoor patio was perfect with the warmth of the sun.
Thank you to all who came out and supported this event. The Club sold over $ 700 in tee shirts, raised almost $ 600 with the 50 / 50 draw, signed some new members as well as received a number of 2011 renewals and also some people enjoyed the show so much they just walked up and made a donation. All proceeds go towards funding our FMO education scholarships. Also thanks to Jay, Hans and his kids, Dan, Leanne and Emily Davies, Jennifer and so many others. Thanks also to the dockmasters and staff at CJ’s who all had to work because of us, after working late last night.
It was an awesome day. Thank you, all.
Bob

Heading for the Naples Pier instead of Marco Island on the morning of a run was a different feeling- but, there is always that wonderful feeling of anticipation.

Especially on a gorgeous, south Florida day.

Bob, John and Nathan heading north to the rally spot.
They came by just as I walked out on the pier.

Watching the guys do the pier dance was very cool.

It was very windy and looked like a bumpy ride, but that makes for nice shots. :drink:

Windblown

I had a bit of a wait while I was on the pier
and as I was watching the people I began to notice something. :drink:

Even though the wind was whipping, it was a warm, beautiful day in south Florida.
