Ft Myers Offshore- Jan 15 Overnight Run to Sarasota - P H O T O S
In spite of very cold weather the club's first overnight run was a roaring success. 28 boats made the trip from the Sanibel Causeway and 1 (CigDaze) came from St Pete. Safe to say a good time was had by all.
I drove up and shot the arrivals from the Ringling Causeway. Cold as hell for 3 hours on the bridge, so I can only imagine what the rest of the folks went through. It was definitely worth it. Met some new (to me) OSO friends from the area who came over to play with us. I have a feeling this may become an annual thing.
Here's a shot of the marina from Bob's room on the 9th floor.

Departure time was 10am from the Sanibel Causeway, so I got in position on the bridge abut 11:20. Even with the cold and the rough water, I knew we had some fast boats coming and didn't want to miss anyone. I figured anyone who had the cojones to make it to bridge deserved to make it to the thread.
Nick and Erin ran about 55 miles down from St Pete and were the first to arrive about 11:50. This stylish Florida boating look was the order of the day.
The gray day and gray water make for boring shots, so I will be taking liberties with my processing to add some pop. (Whazz new, right?)

12:07... I hear big blocks.
WTF??? It's coming from behind me.
Looks like a couple of the guys missed the memo about where to come in.
An Apache and a Top Gun have entered at the north end of Lido Key and are proceeding to kick some sailbote butt.
I've been on the bridge long enough to realize they are probably in a hurry to get to the Hyatt.
Translation: I am freezing my azz off because the wind is non-stop and it is getting colder by the minute.
I am hoping others aren't following them (they weren't) because I don't have enough glass to reach that far.

Great to see you in Sarasota, Jay. While it was windy and cool yesterday, the trip back to Cape Coral, Ft Myers , FMB, Naples and Marco today was great. Sunny skies, calm seas and warmer temps. Hard to believe 4 to 6's on the Gulf yesterday and 1 to 2 ft today. And yes this will become an annual FMO event. Next year we will choose a month earlier or later in hopes of better weather.

Yeah, I know. Everyone is home safe now, so I figgered it would be ok.
Bob- I knew it would be a nice ride back when I saw everyone peeling down to tshirts as they were pulling out of the Hyatt.
Last bird shot and then more boats- there was a pair of these working down the water.
